ELLY HARGREAVE

CAPTAIN & CO-FOUNDER

Manages all aspects of our charity. 30 years’ experience in corporate, public and private sectors including as a BBC Broadcast Journalist and Human Rights Campaigns Manager at The Body Shop International. Led three charities, co-founded two and former trustee Brighton Carers Centre. Frequent roles involving supporting disabled children and adults. She learnt to ride a cycle aged 18 and took up cycling as broken spine rehabilitation aged 31. Raised by a disabled parent she's passionate about community inclusion. Womble our Therapy Dog (below) is part of her family.

LOUISA BARKLA

CYCLE-PILOT SUPPORT

Supports our Volunteer Cycle-Pilots on our Elder Care Ride Service. Responsible for the behind-the-scenes ride management, Cycle-Pilot training and communications.

Louisa has over 20 years’ experience in the charity and corporate sector, working most recently in communications for UNICEF UK and a trailblazing homeless healthcare organisation in Brighton.

She loves cycling along Brighton’s seafront, both solo, and via cargo trike with her two boys. She is delighted to enable others to enjoy cycling on Brighton’s seafront and green spaces.

JACKIE JONES

RIDE ENABLER - ALL-AGES SERVICE

Jackie worked in the travel industry for over 20 years and is lucky enough to have seen a lot of the world, some of it from a bike! Loves cycling, running, skiing and generally being outside in all weather. Started her Pedal People adventures as a Volunteer Cycle-Pilot and loves how cycling is beneficial to all. Now based at our All-Ages service base, training Carer-Pilots.

BERNARDO DACAL

MECHANIC

Bernardo’s love for the outdoors and an active lifestyle led him to discover his passion for cycling. The joy of riding a bike makes him feel truly alive. As a skilled cycle mechanic and engineer, Bernardo aims to make cycling accessible to everyone. He excels in repairing, servicing, and customising cycles to enhance their performance and longevity. We could not keep our wheels turning nor such a reliable service running without his skills and support.

WOMBLE

THERAPY DOG

Womble joined Pedal People as a therapy dog to support participants beofore and during cycle rides. Her calm, gentle nature and ability to sense and respond to people's emotional states have proven incredibly beneficial, providing comfort and enjoyment to both new and experienced participants.
